“That was unfortunate. That was kind of an exchange with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
He further emphasized that the signal was entirely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was inadvertently done. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got corrected pretty quick.”

This is not the first time an league proprietor has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous cases involve:
- Panthers owner David Tepper was penalized $300K for throwing a drink at fans in early 2024.
