It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

Once she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
